In this 60-minute workshop you’ll discover the benefits of meal prep and why it’s important to your overall health, (you control the quality of your food), tips for getting started with meal prep today to have you working like a pro in your kitchen within the week, which basic kitchen gadgets and appliances save you time and make meal prep a breeze and the key staple ingredients you should always have in your kitchen to make your meals as delicious as the best restaurants around.

As the saying goes, “If it ain’t smoked, it ain’t food!” We agree! That’s why we joined forces with the Brickyard BBQ’s Head Pit Boss for this exclusive class. You’ll be there to see and smell the delicious meats when they are pulled off the smokers in the morning. From there, witness and learn how raw meat prep is done before smoking, learn about dry rubs, brines, mops, sauces and types of woods used for different flavors.

Class size will be limited, early registration is encouraged.

 

Class will be held at the Brickyard Pub & BBQ, 432 Center St., Lewiston.

You must register for this class through the district, no walk-ins at the site.

Basic Home Brewing ** SOLD OUT**

Do you like Craft beer? Have you ever wondered how this amazing beverage is made?  Thought of making it yourself? Well we have the class for you! Come learn the basics of home brewing equipment, beer ingredients, and the brewing process, as well as explanations and tastings of various beer styles that you can produce at home. This course will include hands-on brewing of two extract batches of beer, an all grain mash demonstration and beer bottling. No prior experience necessary. You must be 21 or older to take this class.  Class size will be limited, early registration is encouraged. 

A supply fee of $20. Is due and payable to the instructor the first night of class. 

Class will be held at the Brickyard Brewing Company, 436 Center St., Lewiston.

Make Cake Pops, Like a Pro

In these “don’t miss” classes we are bringing in professional cake pop designers for an evening of edible fun! Learn from the best as they show you the skills you need to make cake pops again and again. Each class will begin by learning how to mix cake to get the perfect cake pop dough to work with. Then we’ll go step by step, showing you how to roll, dip and decorate your own cake pops with melted candy wafers. Two separate classes, two fun designs to choose from. Grab your friend, teen or spouse for a fun creative night out together!

All students receive 8 cake pops that they will decorate in a variety of Halloween designs.

There is a supply fee of $10 due and payable to the instructor the night of each class.

Students aged 14 and up are welcome to register for this class when a parent/guardian is also registered and attends the same class.

Mexican Migas

“Any time is a good time for migas!” (Pronounced "meeguz") That’s because this traditional Mexican dish, using tortillas and eggs, is so filling, but easy to make that you can eat it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Learn a little about Mexican culture, plus how to prepare both migas and “pico” for the ultimate brunch. Naturally gluten free! Come hungry! Once registered, students will be given a supply list of items to bring to class.

Students aged 14 and up are welcome to register for this class when a parent/guardian is also registered and attends the same class.

Known as the “Stinking Rose” GARLIC is an easy and fascinating plant to use in dishes from all over the world. The time to plant garlic is now(ish)! I’ll share a little of garlic’s history in America and some of its purported health benefits. Learn garlic anatomy and how to plant garlic for our zone, then harvest parts of it for home cooking throughout the year. Find Regional sources for getting seeds and plants. Each person may sample several garlic varieties and take home cloves to plant or cook.

Comprehensive Beginner Sugar Cookie Decorating ** SOLD OUT** Additional class 11/29

In this new class, you will learn from a professional cookie decorator, ground up basics, of working with royal icing for decorating cut out sugar cookies. This class is perfect timing for the holiday season! Let’s get you making professional looking cookies at home for family and friends. All supplies will be included in this comprehensive class, including 12 different Christmas cookie designs to decorate and for you to take home and enjoy. This will be an intensive beginner class of learning the basics: basing cookies with flood icing, using wet on wet techniques, and using stiff icing for details. You will go home with recipes for sugar cookies and royal icing, a small pamphlet of basic information on making cookie dough and how to work with royal icing, tools to use for cookie decorating at home, including a cookie scribe, extra piping bags, and a holiday cookie cutter. In addition, you'll also go home with the confidence to decorate professional looking cookies for the holidays that you can gift and share with your loved ones,
